One of the important health drinks to consume is yogurt. This drink offers a number of health benefits and can be very suitable for consumption especially for weight loss.

A recent study revealed that the consumption of yogurt can reduce the risk of breast cancer. This is certainly very encouraging and complements the results of previous studies which revealed that this drink is useful for reducing the risk of lung cancer.

The results of this study have been published in the journal Medical Hypotheses. The study was conducted by researchers from Lancaster University and the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.

"There is one potential preventative drug at a cheap and easy price in the form of natural yogurt consumption for women every day," explained the researcher.

Yogurt contains bacteria that benefit from lactose fermentation that is commonly found in milk. This is the same as bacteria or microflora found in the breast of breastfeeding mothers.

"We know that breast milk is actually not sterile and then lactation changes the microflora of the breast," Dr. Rachel Rigby from Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine.

"Lactose-fermented bacteria are common in milk and tend to be in the female breast glands during breastfeeding and at unknown times after breastfeeding," he continued.

It is known that lactose-fermented bacteria in the breast can protect. The reason is, breastfeeding more and more throughout the year can reduce the risk of breast cancer by 4.3 percent.


Chronic inflammation that occurs in a person's body not only destroys harmful bacteria but also injures the body. This can lead to a number of health problems including breast cancer.

"Stem cells that divide the breast gland series are affected by microflora. Certain components of microflora also appear in a number of other organs such as the intestine and stomach, which increase the development of cancer," explained the results of the study.

"The same thing also seems to appear in the breast, where the impact of microflora from the division of stem cells occurs and affects the risk of cancer," he explained.
