Discussing women: Breast hygiene and health is one of the important things to note.
When experiencing a particular symptom in the part of the breast maybe not a few are worried and wonder what is the cause. One of them may have experienced an itchy and dry breast nipple on the breast.
Most women will certainly ask what causes the nipple to feel itchy and dry. It may be caused by erratic hormonal changes in women or because the body lacks hydration.
But if the nipple feels itchier and other symptoms are followed to get worse, it could be caused by more worrying things like breast cancer. If things get worse, it is advisable to immediately see a doctor or other medical expert.
Here are some possibilities that can cause the nipple on the breast to feel itchy and dry.
1. Dry Weather
Cold and dry weather can cause itching all over the body including the breast and nipples. This usually makes the nipples dry to peel. If the weather is the cause, it is recommended to take a bath with warm water or water at room temperature under 10 minutes. Then, the dry part of the breast or nipple should be applied with a moisturizing cream or ointment.
2. Eczema
Eczema can cause a crusty rash on the nipple and other parts of the breast. If the cause of itching on the nipple is due to eczema then you should use a thick moisturizer with the content of ceramide, which is a waxy material that can help heal the skin. Topical steroid creams like hydrocortisone can help to swell and itching. If it feels more itchy and dry, you should immediately consult a doctor to get appropriate treatment.
3. Bath soap
The chemicals contained in the soap can be a cause of rash and dryness on the nipples when it does not fit your skin. We recommend using hypo allergic, non-aromatic soap and cleansers, and free of charge. Next, you will know whether bath soap is the cause or not.
4. Underwear or bra
Women's breast health can be affected by elastic materials or dyes used to make bras or underwear. Contact dermatitis can cause redness and itching in the area of the skin that touches the fabric, which can cause itching.
5. Pregnancy
Hormonal changes and stretching of the skin that occurs during pregnancy can cause the breasts and nipples to enlarge. To help reduce itching on the nipple, you can use coconut oil or lanolin ointment applied to the nipple.
6. Radiation
Radiation kills skin cells and causes dryness, burning, and itching when the skin exfoliates. Drink plenty of fluids and use loose and soft clothing. In addition, your doctor can also prescribe corticosteroids to rub on the skin.
7. Tumor
Sometimes non-cancerous tumors in the breast duct can cause the nipple to itch and crust. You may feel a small lump or see a clear or bloody discharge from the nipple. To be sure, you should consult your doctor to get the right treatment.
