The cold weather did not only pose a threat to those who suffer from bone pain and joint pain. But it is also bad for people who are sick heart or have problems with their heart health.

"Our research shows that exposure to cold weather and high-pressure air can trigger events that lead to the terrible threat to those who are suffering from heart disease," said Pierre Gosselin, researchers from University Laval in Canada.

The study included 112 793 people aged 65 years and over who were diagnosed heart failure in Canada. During the 635 days of their health monitored by state air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and air pollutants in the environment. The results show that the number of patients who are hospitalized due to heart disease is higher in winter than in summer.

"We are aware that the risk of heart disease patients experience the hospitalization increased 0.7% every time the temperature drops one degree Celsius. In addition, the risk of heart failure will increase by 4.5% for every increase 1kPa (kilopascals) in the atmospheric pressure." [feb]
