Health News: Baldness Drug May Protect Men from Prostate Cancer
A long-term study says that a drug commonly used to treat prostate enlargement and baldness it also can protect men from prostate cancer attacks.
Drug called Propecia and Proscar is precisely to reduce the
risk of prostate cancer by 30 percent in men if taken every day for seven
years.
"These drugs prevent its growing tumors become
cancerous," said Dr. Ian Thompson of the Research Center at the University
of Texas Health Sciences Center, as quoted in the Mother Nature Network.
The study involved 19,000 men with an average age of 62
years. Nonetheless, the researchers explain that further research remains to be
done.
The results then reported in the New England Journal of
Medicine.
