People who have hyperthyroidism, or thyroid hormone excess,
the mild stage of death is known to have a higher risk of heart disease or any
other cause, according to recent research.
Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland produces too
much thyroid hormone. This causes symptoms such as weight loss, high blood
pressure, anxiety, and others.
This result is known to researchers after observing 6,200
people in Denmark who were diagnosed with hyperthyroidism between 2000 and
2009. They found that excessive production of thyroid hormones can cause death
from heart disease or anything else.
Increased risk of death was also seen in people with thyroid
activity above normal. Approximately 15 percent of the 706 deaths caused by
thyroid hormone is too high. While 17 percent of the 1,000 deaths caused by an
overactive thyroid condition.
Christian researcher Selmer from Gentofte University
Hospital in Denmark explained that it is difficult to determine the exact
number of deaths resulting from hyper-production of thyroid hormone or the
excessive activity of the thyroid gland.
"I think the important thing is if someone has a family
history of thyroid problems and showed symptoms of a thyroid problem, then you
should consult them often," said Selmer, as reported by U.S. News (03/05).
Although the research linking activity of thyroid gland and
thyroid hormones with death, but this study did not demonstrate a causal link.
