If you want to lower your risk of heart disease, you simply
walk away. Because the health benefits of running to reduce the risk of it also
can be obtained by foot, according to new research.
During the six years of the study, experts found the facts
of the runners and walkers. If the run is able to reduce the risk of high blood
pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, the foot is the same.
Researchers analyzed the habits precisely 33 060 runners who
registered in the National Runners' Health Study and 15,045 who joined the
National Walkers' Health Study. All respondents had between 18-80 years of age,
although most of them are 40-50 years old.
To determine whether on foot and ran affect heart health,
researchers examined the energy expenditure of the respondents. In addition to
the diagnosis of doctors such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes,
and heart disease are also examined.
"Runners and walkers have proven health benefits are
the same," said researcher Paul T. Williams of Lawrence Berkeley National
Laboratory , told My Health News Daily (04/04).
Not only that, researchers confirmed if the runners and
walkers move much more active, the greater the health benefits obtained.
However, more healthful exercise is combining walking and
running. For example, spend 30 minutes and ran 20 minutes each twice a week.
The goal is to increase the heart rate in healthy cardiovascular system, weight
control, and reduce the risks of disease.
The results are then reported in the journal
Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology.
