Microsoft yesterday said that the latest operating system,
Windows 8, is a certified hit. But apparently the two Asian PC manufacturers
state differently about Windows 8.
Acer and Asus said they doubted the prospects of Windows 8.
They also stated that the demand for products with Windows 8 at this time is
not so good. This is in contrast to a statement Microsoft said it has sold 40
million licenses of Windows 8 a month after launch.
Both statements could be true. Microsoft said it's true that
their data only includes licenses purchased Windows 8 Windows upgrade old way.
Acer and Asus also could be telling the truth when they mean is a new product
which uses Windows 8 is not so enthused.
However, it should be noted that Microsoft has historically
often use splashy statement to help the promotion of new products.
When Microsoft sells Vista, they claimed to have sold 20
million licenses for one month of its launch. The statement was then questioned
by Microsoft Watch website stating that Microsoft sells Vista is actually less
than the truth.
When Microsoft launched Windows 7, they are also immediately
claim has sold 90 million licenses in five months. They also called the Windows
7 operating system is the most rapidly increasing sales in history. But in
fact, according to research firm NPD, Microsoft Windows 7 has sold more
software than Vista, but 7-based PC sales is not so much compared to Vista.
