Sleeping 9 Hours Every Day Make Slim

American scientists from the University of Washington conducted a study on 1088 pairs of twins. They are assessed based on indicators of health and lifestyle. The results suggest that genetic factors have a direct influence on body mass index (BMI). BMI is a measurement scale to assess whether a person's normal weight, underweight to overweight.

With the same gene, the researchers also assessed their long sleep. In the twin pairs, those who slept less than 7 hours per day had twice higher BMI than their twin who slept 9 hours (note: the higher the BMI, the more overweight and even obese).

Dr. Nathaniel Watson who joined in the study explained that lack of sleep creates a sense of 'comfort' in the genes associated with obesity.
