The risk of accidents lurks in every corner of the kitchen. You can, however, to minimize by adopting appropriate habits.

1. Have plenty of light on the benches where you prepare food. Add fluorescent lighting underneath the hanging cabinets.
2. Choose non-slip materials for covering floors. If you break it carpet, mat or carpet, fix well on the floor with double-sided adhesive tape.
3. If you have small children, cover the sharp corners of cabinets with specially rounded caps. When children grow up, you can remove it.
4. Obtain a small fire extinguisher and put it in a location with easy access.
5. Make sure there are no exposed wires and plugs.
6. Do not use appliances near the sink as kettles or coffee makers: the risk of falling into the water while they are plugged in, and electric shock.
7. Always thoroughly wash cutting boards, knives and hands during food preparation to avoid transferring germs from uncooked chicken eg the raw salad
